This is my last installment in the “Saving Men in a Hyper Sexualized Culture” Series. I am so thankful to the Southern Baptists of Texas for letting me partner with them in their online conference. The video today is from the conference, and it is an interview with a young man who just graduated from college. He shares some painful things from his past and how that left him vulnerable to pornography addiction. He also talks about the power the Gospel brings and how God’s grace has set him free. May this minister to you and provide you some hope. I am thankful for the good news of the Gospel that gives us hope!
In today’s post, we look at one more video from the online conference I did with the Southern Baptists of Texas. This is a powerful story of a married couple and their journey to find freedom, healing and forgiveness. It is raw and real, and it speaks to the amazing power of the Gospel.
As we go into Thanksgiving week, may we remember Jesus, His Gospel, and the freedom that Christ brings. I am so thankful for freedom in Christ that comes from the cross and the empty tomb!
This particular post is a video from the online conference of a high school student I got to meet with. His name is Thomas. He is a fine young man, and his story is very powerful. If you don’t have time to watch the interview with him, then I would encourage you to start at 19:35 of the video. It is at the 19:35 mark that Thomas shares his “Spoken Word” that he wrote about his own journey to freedom. It is very powerful! Praise the Lord for His Gospel that sets us free.
The last couple of weeks I have posted the teaching/training sessions from the Online Conference with the Southern Baptists of Texas. The next several posts will be video/testimonies. The first video is of my wife and I sharing our journey of how pornography almost destroyed our marriage. The good news for us is the journey did not end there. We also share how the Gospel set me free from addiction and how the Gospel brings forgiveness and healing. I know there are many couples struggling right now, just like Kelly and I were. You may know some of those couples, and you may not. They might be suffering in silence. Feel free to post this video to your social media outlets as a way to offer hope for married couples who need to know that Christ can intervene in those hard places of their marriage.
I especially like the video I am posting today. I struggled with intense shame for a long time. I am so thankful for Jesus who meets me right in the midst of my sin and shame, and I am so thankful for Jesus who sets me free from my sin and shame. It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.
The videos posted have looked at the 30 day detox process and the heart issues behind idolatry. In this session we look at how to heal some of those heart issues. God gives us freedom in Him the moment we come to know Him, but we must walk in that freedom. Letting the Lord heal those deep places in our hearts really helps us to truly walk in freedom in Christ.
The first post I sent out on this was the intro session to the online conference. The last post I sent out was about the 30 day detox. This post is a video where we look at the heart. The purpose of doing this is so we can find the real heart issue behind our idolatry struggle. Once we discover what that issue is, we must take it to Jesus!
