Facing a Vast Army

In 2 Chronicles 20, Jehoshaphat was King of Judah (God’s chosen nation).  His people were being opposed by God’s enemies, the Moabites and Ammonites.  I liken the battle that Jehoshaphat had in 2 Chronicles 20 to the battle that the body of Christ has against porn today.  I know I talk about this a great deal, and some people just think I am an alarmist.  But take a look at these stats put out by the Baptist Press.

These statistics are sobering to say the least.  What do we do?  How do we respond?

We respond like Jehoshaphat.

In 2 Chronicles 20:12, Jehoshaphat prays this to God, “For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.”

You see statistics like this, and it can be overwhelming.  The Lord is impressing on my heart to increase my prayer effort against this evil called online porn.  Would you join me in this effort?  Would you involve others in your local body to do the same?

We have no power to face this vast army, but our eyes are on Jesus!!!

  1. As always, you have spoken directly and fervently to some very alarming trends in our world. And your passage suggests that our admission of lack of resources in ourselves is first and foremost in importance. It also makes clear the essential experience of “our eyes being on the Lord.” Thank you for working hard to help us learn how to pursue and experience a closeness with Jesus where we can “see” and respond to Him, no mater what the challenge!

Lord we know that your will is perfect and in all things you bring about your good. We know that this fight with our flesh is a condition of the fall in Eden, and our free will. We ask Lord that you equip us to protect ourselves and families from this plague. It is clear to see, that the path of America is away from you, it is clear that You are giving the people of America over to there sinful nature and desire for sexual immorality (Romans 1:26-28). We pray for the hearts of men to strengthen and lead their families in your ways (Proverbs 22:6). Strengthen us Lord, soften our hearts to bring our thoughts back to you, and help us keep our families on Your path and away from this immorality that is the path of sin, and will mean death, not eternal life.

Thank you Lord, in Jesus name we pray
